About the position

The Senior Manager of Product Development will lead the development of products from ideation to completion within assigned categories. This role requires strong communication skills, market knowledge, and the ability to analyze sales data to ensure product quality and fit. The manager will collaborate with internal and external partners to meet customer needs and drive business initiatives, while also monitoring product specifications throughout the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with category/merchandising management team to provide advice related to product strategies and direction regarding product needs.
  • Provide customized cost-effective quality products to maintain market leadership while maximizing margin opportunities.
  • Lead the planning, managing performance, and driving growth for the category, establishing a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Identify potential issues during the product life cycle, perform product reviews, evaluate products against specifications, and recommend solutions to resolve issues.
  • Create a cohesive team that supports and encourages all team members to grow their career goals and the organization's goals.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in consumer product development, merchandising, or retail branding.
  • 3 years of experience conveying complex or technical ideas in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences.
  • 1 year of experience developing end-to-end strategy in a category-focused role.
  • Understanding of product trends, industry trends, merchandising, display development and management, and program profitability analysis.
  • Understanding of requirements of doing business with customers, including all aspects of business, operations, finance, and distribution.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specialized with Excel.
  • Experience at a range of companies including major international product brands and consumer electronics retailers.
