About the position

Microchip Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Manager for Product Marketing within the Frequency and Time System Business Unit. This role is pivotal in leading the growth of the Chip-Scale Atomic Clock (CSAC) portfolio, which is recognized as the world's first chip-scale clock. The CSAC provides atomic clock accuracy while maintaining ultra-low power consumption and a compact size, making it ideal for portable applications. This technology is utilized globally across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, military, and space applications. As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for developing a compelling product roadmap and executing plans to ensure the success of the product portfolio in both existing and new markets. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to formulate product strategies and present these strategies in a portfolio format. Additionally, you will work alongside the sales organization to secure significant deals with commercial clients and Department of Defense customers. Your role will also involve creating effective go-to-market plans and managing the entire product life cycle, ensuring that the CSAC product line meets market demands and achieves business objectives. The position requires a strategic thinker who can analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to drive product success. You will serve as the primary source of knowledge regarding market and technology trends, and you will be responsible for managing technology alliances that are essential for executing the product strategy. This role is not only about managing products but also about leading initiatives that empower innovation and drive growth within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product strategies to ensure the success of the product portfolio in existing and new markets.
  • Capture product requirements and interact closely with engineering to build a practical and compelling roadmap and execute roadmap plans.
  • Manage the product line performance by collaborating with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Executive Management.
  • Communicate with sales representatives, partners, internal marketing staff, and application engineers to support CSAC applications and clients.
  • Understand the business of the product line and build effective go-to-market plans and programs in collaboration with Outbound Marketing.
  • Drive the launch of new products into targeted market segments, managing the entire product life-cycle.
  • Manage the ecosystem and technology alliances necessary to execute the product strategy and roadmap.
  • Serve as the company's source of knowledge and analysis for market/technology trends, industry capital expenditures, market sizing, competitive analysis, product positioning, and pricing.
  • Work closely with the sales organization to close major deals with leading commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) customers.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge within the Time and Frequency industry and competitors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Management, or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Frequency and Timing or related business.
  • Creative thinker with a 'can do' approach.
  • Demonstrated expertise in product life-cycle management.
  • Knowledge of oscillators, frequency synthesis, atomic clocks, and/or GPS instrumentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization across functional teams.
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to execute.
  • Self-starter with strong teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master of Arts or Master of Science degree.
  • Outbound Marketing and collateral management experience.
  • Product development experience.
  • Experience working with large manufacturing organizations, prime contractors, and the Department of Defense (DoD) on large and complex contracts.
  • Demonstrated success in the conception and launch of new products and marketing programs.
  • Expertise in export compliance and ISO-9001 standards.
  • Experience creating product pricing books.
