About the position

The Project Management leader will oversee project managers for global teams in the US and Europe, focusing on driving consistency and best practices within the Biotech R&D group at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. This hybrid role involves identifying project management gaps, developing training plans, aligning with the PMO office, managing cross-functional projects, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify project management gaps and skill levels needed and methods to fill and deploy those resources to projects as needed across all projects for the organization.
  • Work on development and training plans for team members and facilitate deployment of project management standard work to all project leaders and teams.
  • Ensure awareness of any required DBS tool related to project execution and facilitate project management training in conjunction with the PMO office.
  • Conduct and ensure completion of required VPM assessments on all local projects with Gemba walks as needed.
  • Communicate any project management organizational changes to the PMO for the update of the PMO organizational chart.
  • Review VPM and CPD calendars monthly to ensure that all local events are captured and facilitators assigned.
  • Act as project manager for cross-functional teams and complex activities, developing project plans, identifying dependencies, and analyzing risks and constraints.
  • Maintain full control of project timelines, resources, and budgets, managing project issues, risks, and schedule conflicts as needed.
  • Support and interact with scientists, engineers, and marketing to support product definition, project scope, risk management, and design control activities.
  • Develop effective relationships and maintain communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including external parties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 14+ years of related experience in Project Management
  • 10+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Leadership and a desire to manage managers who lead teams to build great products
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams and a proven track record delivering projects on time
  • Excellent time management, meeting facilitation, communication, and documentation skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a manager of managers
  • Experience leading teams working on software-hardware products and pure software products
  • Experience in the development of biotech devices and a solid understanding of FDA Quality System Regulation
