About the position

As a key player in Centene's mission to transform the health of our communities, you will manage and execute media and public relations efforts for Corporate products, regional health plans, and other subsidiaries. This role involves proactive media engagement, public relations initiatives, and crisis communications. You will provide strategic communication counsel and guidance to subsidiaries within your assigned regions, ensuring that public relations initiatives align with corporate goals and effectively address any issues that may arise. In this position, you will oversee Public Relations for Markets and Product subsidiaries, managing the review and approval process between subsidiaries and corporate senior management for all public relations activities. Your responsibilities will also include monitoring and analyzing trends within Centene, the industry, and competitors, allowing you to recommend and implement action plans that support the organization’s objectives. Additionally, you will oversee Corporate Public Relations efforts related to national programs, mergers and acquisitions, and business development activities. A significant aspect of your role will be managing the department staff, which includes hiring, performance management, and career development. You will ensure that your team is aligned with defined goals and is equipped to contribute effectively to Centene's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute media and public relations efforts for Corporate products, regional health plans, and other subsidiaries.
  • Provide strategic communication counsel and guidance to subsidiaries within assigned regions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications.
  • Experience working in a managed care, insurance, or healthcare environment preferred.
