About the position

As the Senior Manager of Purchasing at Wausau Window and Wall Systems, you will lead the procurement organization for Architectural Framing Systems (AFS) within Apogee Enterprises, Inc. Your primary focus will be on enhancing efficiencies and automating processes related to the ordering, receiving, and payment of goods and services. This role is pivotal in aligning procurement practices with business goals and industry standards while spearheading significant transformations through the establishment of a Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies and policies to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manage and supervise the purchasing team, including hiring, training, evaluating, and mentoring staff.
  • Improve supplier lead time, delivery, and quality to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing process and maintain supply chain continuity.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, price fluctuations, supply and demand, and supplier performance.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as operations leaders, project managers, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, organizational policies and procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Develop, track and manage key performance metrics to measure purchasing activities and performance.
  • Deliver improved performance and functional transformation by fostering a Center of Excellence that executes best-in-class buying activities.
  • Optimize intercompany transactions and increase use of automation across the req to pay process.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to effectively meet the needs of the business and deliver key results.
  • Leverage technology to increase transactional efficiencies and enhance business processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in purchasing and procurement management, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills to monitor market trends and supplier performance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards in procurement practices.
  • Experience in developing and tracking key performance metrics.
