About the position

The Senior Manager - Research and Development Product Strategy at American Express is responsible for defining and executing strategies that leverage emerging technologies, particularly in the context of Gen AI. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that research and development projects align with business needs and are delivered on time and within budget. The position emphasizes innovation, strategic partnerships, and the effective communication of complex ideas to executive audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Define and socialize impactful business strategies around emerging technologies such as Gen AI.
  • Gather leadership support for opportunities and lead external partnerships that will drive meaningful results for the company.
  • Support strategic leadership committees in the creation and execution of ambitious tech-first strategies.
  • Implement performance transparency of pilots and use cases to ensure success and effective resource deployment.
  • Support internal training, socialization, and education of emerging tech such as Gen AI.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in corporate strategy, product development, management consulting, or investment banking preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with proven ability to message effectively across levels and tailor complex messages to executive audiences.
  • Track record of successfully supporting strategic initiatives, including the development of business cases.
  • Consistent track record managing partners and collaborators to reach consensus.
  • Ability to break down complex problems in simple ways and tell a story with data.
  • Advanced software application skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering, or another quantitative field required.
