About the position

The Senior Manager - SALT Sales and Use Tax at RSM is responsible for providing expert advisory and planning services in sales and use tax for multi-state companies. This role emphasizes technical expertise, people management, and client service, with a focus on business development and mentoring team members. The position requires a strong understanding of state and local tax laws and the ability to manage complex tax consulting projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent sales and use tax advisory and planning services to multi-state companies.
• Engage in business development for the State and Local tax practice by generating new revenue and growing client relationships.
• Serve as a Performance Advisor, mentor, or coach to employees, providing timely performance feedback.
• Integrate with clients and collaborate with local and regional RSM SALT teams and other RSM colleagues.
• Manage various sales and use tax consulting projects, including technical research, nexus studies, audit defense, and tax mitigation strategies.
• Lead and manage business relationships for complex engagements, focusing on high-value tax advice.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• CPA, CMI, JD, or LLM certification required.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in sales and use tax consulting services in public accounting, consulting, or law firm.
• Thorough knowledge of state and local sales and use tax laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
