About the position

The Senior Manager, Scheduling is responsible for creating and maintaining a master schedule for raw materials and plant capacities, ensuring a balance between supply and demand for poultry products. This role involves strategizing production assets, leading cross-departmental teams, and managing production, inventory, and logistics planning. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to analyze and organize schedules while collaborating with various departments to optimize operations.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a valid master schedule for raw materials and plant capacities.
  • Oversee the master schedule for all finished good items.
  • Strategize production assets for promotional demand and long-term seasonality.
  • Identify operational opportunities and risks, presenting them to stakeholders.
  • Provide data for the white meat sales strategy.
  • Lead a cross-departmental team in improved business intelligence using higher-level MRP.
  • Manage activities of production, inventory, and logistics planning with contract manufacturers.
  • Act as a liaison between plants/operation units and sales for commodity sales and procurement activities.
  • Analyze and organize a master schedule, determining out of balance conditions and recommending actions.
  • Work with sales, marketing, demand management, and operations management to understand lead times.
  • Summarize daily and weekly master schedules and compare them to the production plan.
  • Facilitate the duties of the Raw Material Coordinator and other scheduling staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of poultry processing operations and participate in the Sales and Operations Planning process.
  • Conduct rough cut capacity planning prior to publishing a master schedule.
  • Lead initiatives to identify and mitigate out of balance conditions at processing plants.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Manage employees, directing and supervising their work activities.
  • Collaborate with HR for hiring and performance management.
  • Participate in team development and implementation of policies and programs.
  • Familiarize with Simmons' operating systems and maintain compliance.

Requirements

  • 6 years of poultry processing/sales/marketing experience.
  • 3 years of experience in Master Scheduling, preferably in Poultry Planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Poultry Science, or related field, or 4 years of related work experience.
