About the position

The Senior Manager - SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting at Nutanix is responsible for overseeing the technical accounting function, improving accounting policies and processes, and managing the SEC reporting function. This role requires a strong background in US GAAP and SEC standards, and involves collaboration with various departments to ensure compliance and effective communication of complex accounting issues.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accounting research and prepare or review technical accounting memos regarding significant and/or complex transactions.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies in response to operational changes, technical accounting, and internal control requirements.
  • Establish frequent touchpoints with key business counterparts to assess potential accounting implications.
  • Lead goodwill and asset impairment review process.
  • Prepare and coordinate distribution of presentations for executive management and the Audit Committee.
  • Manage external vendors to support valuations and outsourced technical accounting projects.
  • Review SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, etc.) and key financial statement disclosures.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors and manage audit requests.
  • Participate in quarter-end close activities including stock-based compensation, leases, litigation analysis, and debt accounting entries.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as necessary and assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of accounting experience, with 4-5 years of public accounting experience, ideally in the technology industry.
  • Strong technical accounting background with thorough knowledge of ASC 842, ASC 350, ASC 985, ASC 740, and ASC 450.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and effective management skills.
  • Experience with SOX, including design and execution of controls.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented personality.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting and CPA preferred.
