About the position

The Tucson Roadrunners are seeking a Senior Manager of Social Media to lead the development and execution of innovative social media content and strategies aimed at enhancing the team's online presence, engaging fans, and driving ticket and merchandise sales. This role is pivotal in building a national following and requires a deep understanding of various social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Snapchat, as well as emerging channels. The ideal candidate will possess both strategic and creative skills, with a proven track record of growing social media followings and engaging sports fans through large-scale social strategies and targeted campaigns. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive social and digital editorial calendar, developing content franchises that align with team initiatives and corporate partnerships, and actively contributing to the Roadrunners' social media accounts. You will also focus on growing the team's social following and sponsorship revenue, while conceptualizing and directing short-form video content tailored for platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Your passion for sports, street culture, and entertainment will be essential in crafting engaging content that resonates with fans. As a Senior Manager, you will lead a team of social media and digital contributors, overseeing recruitment and team development. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with various departments including video production, creative, and marketing to ensure that all social and digital strategies reflect the Roadrunners' voice and objectives. You will also be responsible for driving the website, app, and email strategies, while maintaining a keen awareness of social platform performance best practices. Your role will involve developing strategic e-commerce campaigns across social media platforms to drive sales and collaborating on brand-defining events to uncover social engagement opportunities. Additionally, you will leverage digital paid advertising to maximize revenue across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Social and Digital editorial calendar.
  • Develop content franchises for team initiatives and corporate partnerships.
  • Contribute to, engage with, and brainstorm ideas for all Roadrunners social media accounts.
  • Grow the Roadrunners social following and sponsorship revenue across social platforms.
  • Concept and direct short-form video content for platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat.
  • Bring personal passion for and experience in concepting sports, street culture, entertainment, and lifestyle-specific content to the Roadrunners team.
  • Manage a team of social media and digital contributors, and recruit and hire future team members.
  • Focus on IG, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Web Stories, and monitor emerging social platforms and formats.
  • Drive the website, app, and email strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with video production, creative, brand, and external platform partners to evaluate and update social and digital content strategies.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of all social platform performance best practices and educate the team.
  • Develop strategic e-commerce-retail campaigns across all social media platforms that drive sales.
  • Collaborate across Roadrunners brand-defining events, tentpole themes, and other major moments to uncover social engagement opportunities.
  • Work with major brands and partners to produce client-funded content and editorial content.
  • Use digital paid advertising to drive revenue across multiple platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years experience directing social and digital teams and managing people.
  • Experience concepting branded content and corporate partner packages.
  • A deep and always-evolving understanding of the social content strategy process, tools, and landscape.
  • A genuine passion for social media content creation.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • An innovative spirit, a hunger to experiment, and the ability to rally a team to pivot quickly to test new platforms and platform tools.
  • Grace under pressure, great people skills, high integrity, and accountability.
  • An understanding of paid digital advertising.
