About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Asset Management at Bristol Myers Squibb is responsible for the operational and strategic management of the software portfolio, focusing on optimizing value, minimizing costs, and managing risks associated with Software and SaaS investments. This role requires a deep understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) processes, lifecycle management, and experience with tools like ServiceNow SAMPro and Flexera. The position involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure effective software license management and compliance, while also identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for operational and strategic management of the software portfolio to optimize value, cost, and minimize risk for Software and SaaS investments.
  • Expertise in reading US software contractual agreements and managing license entitlements and metrics throughout the lifecycle.
  • Review Top Spend Publisher Software Products for software product spend, accuracy, and optimization.
  • Assist in Software Rationalization initiatives to reduce software spend.
  • Track, maintain, and orchestrate license and maintenance agreement renewals with software owners.
  • Manage software license information including licensing contracts, SW agreements, license metrics & SW models.
  • Ensure software asset management data quality and provide data insights from various sources.
  • Troubleshoot the ServiceNow SAMPro Module for normalization, discovery, completeness, and entitlement assurance.
  • Collect and maintain accurate Software Licensing information in repositories for budgeting, compliance, and inventory.
  • Partner with Software Owners and IT Software Sourcing and Procurement during renewals, audits, and dispute resolutions.
  • Identify savings opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization.
  • Design and implement end-to-end SAM processes from procurement to retirement of software.
  • Develop and maintain SAM metrics and KPIs to measure effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Assess risk and cost reduction opportunities and make recommendations to optimize the software asset portfolio.
  • Stay updated on SAM trends and best practices to leverage innovations and technologies.
  • Oversee decisions regarding software license agreements and metrics impacting the software landscape at BMS.
  • Manage the ServiceNow Content library with publisher part number library requests.
  • Expand SaaS Software subscription usage visibility by integrating to SaaS provider portals and performing reconciliations.
  • Expand the SAM Pro Software License Metering Program through training initiatives for license reclamation and cost savings opportunities.
  • Lead complex initiatives related to continuous improvement or development of new approaches/technologies.
  • Critically evaluate and interpret current trends to contribute to departmental strategy.
  • Synthesize data and analysis to find solutions to overall problems with consultation of functional leadership.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Software License Management and deep expertise in software licensing and asset management functions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer experience and success, with the ability to simplify experiences and deliver outcomes.
  • Ability to partner with subject matter experts, including software owners and ServiceNow administrators.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset with a willingness to learn, adapt, and continuously improve.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL, ITSM processes, and ServiceNow platform capabilities.
  • SAM certifications such as IAITAM and Microsoft licensing certifications are required.
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders for positive operational decisions.
  • Experience directing external vendors tactically and providing strategic input.
