About the position

The Senior Manager of Software Development at Ring Data Science and Engineering is responsible for leading the Data Warehouse function, shaping analytics and data science solutions to support data-driven decision-making across all business units. This role involves aligning with senior leadership, defining strategic roadmaps, providing technical guidance, and overseeing the implementation of advanced technical designs to enhance data governance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Align with cross-functional senior leadership and business/product/engineering stakeholders on top priorities.
• Define the team's vision, strategic roadmap, and ways of working (processes and mechanisms).
• Provide technical guidance, hire, and develop managers and teams.
• Oversee implementation of state-of-the-art technical designs including governance solutions, data APIs, data lakes, data warehouses, ETL tools, data pipelines, and BI reporting applications.
• Communicate strategy, progress, and impact to senior leadership.
• Drive efficiency, automation, and self-service at scale.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering team management experience.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
• Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
• 10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer software experience leveraging large scale databases or internal data analytics/warehouse platforms.
• 2+ years managing managers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems.
• Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic data applications.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience working with very large databases and datasets.
• Knowledge of advanced data modeling techniques and experience designing for performance at scale.
