About the position

As a Senior Manager in Software Development & Engineering at Schwab, you will lead software delivery teams within the Retirement Plan Services Technology group. Your role will focus on ensuring high-quality output through guidance in all aspects of software delivery, including design, development, testing, and deployment. You will act as a hands-on technical leader, driving the development of solutions that meet business objectives in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more software delivery teams to ensure high-quality output.
  • Provide guidance and support for all facets of software delivery including design, development, testing, deployment, tooling, and support.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Attract, engage, and retain top diverse technical talent.
  • Coach team members in identifying and achieving their personal and professional development goals.
  • Leverage team member strengths to accomplish team and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT across Software Engineering/Development roles.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience supporting highly technical individuals.
  • 5+ years of experience running small to medium-sized projects and initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) processes in planning, implementation, and support of business applications.
  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, testing, maintenance, and support.
  • Professional experience in developing distributed scalable enterprise-class applications using technologies such as C#, ASP, .NET, Delphi, Angular, SQL Server, Oracle, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, SAML, OAuth, REST, and SOAP-based APIs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and motivational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Test Driven Development.
  • Financial Services industry experience.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, Bamboo).
  • Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as PCF, GCP, and AWS.
