About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering Governance (2LOD) at SoFi will lead the strategic approach and governance for risk management within the Software Engineering teams. This role is pivotal in developing and executing the Technology Risk Management strategy, focusing on enhancing risk programs and mitigating risks associated with software development and deployment processes. The position emphasizes collaboration with first line teams to ensure robust controls and effective risk management practices are in place, ultimately contributing to the safety and trust of SoFi's technology operations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic approach and governance for risk management across Software Engineering teams.
  • Develop and execute Technology Risk Management strategy.
  • Partner with first line teams to identify risks and ensure robust controls are embedded in operational processes.
  • Design and lead targeted risk assessments across technology domains, focusing on SDLC practices and secure code development.
  • Identify, assess, and report on risks associated with technology and infrastructure, including AWS environments.
  • Ensure adherence to IT regulatory requirements and promote best practices in software engineering.
  • Review and assess technology risk and control environment, including user access management and application security.
  • Monitor and develop Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for efficient reporting of aggregate risks.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of programming experience, particularly in a JVM-based language with familiarity in Spring.
  • Professional experience in Technology Risk Management or Technology Audit Management.
  • Deep understanding of code release and deployment orchestration in a microservices environment.
  • Expertise in building and operating large-scale fault-tolerant distributed systems and applications.
  • Experience with public cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
  • Ability to communicate technology, security, and risk management concepts effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working at a financial institution under regulatory supervision.
  • AWS audit or risk management experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CCSK, CISA, AWS CCP, Java, Spring.
  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.

  • Competitive base pay range of $134,400.00 - $231,000.00 based on experience and location.
