About the position
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Back End - Cloud Identity at Capital One is responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers. This role focuses on creating solutions that meet regulatory needs while leveraging cloud-based technologies. The position emphasizes collaboration with product managers and mentoring within the engineering community, driving innovation and transformation in the technology space.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
- Create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
- Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and participate in technology communities.
- Mentor other members of the engineering community and occasionally code or evaluate code.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that enhance customer experiences.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, along with various AWS tools and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
- At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
- At least 4 years of people management experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree
- 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 7+ years of people management experience
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
