About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Back End (People Leader) for the IFX Team at Capital One is responsible for leading a diverse portfolio of technology projects and managing a team of developers. This role focuses on creating solutions that meet regulatory needs while driving innovation in the technology space. The position requires a strong emphasis on collaboration, mentoring, and staying updated with tech trends to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that empower users financially.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices and full stack systems.
• Create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company.
• Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, and participate in internal and external technology communities.
• Mentor other members of the engineering community and occasionally code or evaluate code.
• Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not count)
• At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
• At least 4 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree
• 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js
• 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks
• 7+ years of people management experience
• 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
