About the position

As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering specializing in Back End development at Capital One, you will play a pivotal role in leading a diverse portfolio of technology projects. Your primary focus will be on managing a team of skilled developers who possess deep expertise in distributed microservices and full stack systems. You will utilize a variety of programming languages, including Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, as well as work with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases. Your expertise will extend to container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, along with a range of AWS tools and services. Staying abreast of tech trends and participating in both internal and external technology communities will be essential to your success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with a proven track record of leading teams and managing projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • At least 4 years of people management experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 9+ years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js.
  • 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
  • 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks.
  • 7+ years of people management experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
