Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Data Ventures

About the position

As Senior Manager Engineering in Data Ventures, you will be leading a team of 10+ engineers. You will be responsible for delivering the core capabilities that cut across Data Ventures products. Data Ventures exists to unlock the full value of Walmart's data by developing and productizing B2B data initiatives that empower merchants and suppliers to make better, faster decisions for the business. As part of this transformation, we're seeking entrepreneurial individuals to help drive data productization from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements, translating requirements into technical solutions, gathering requested information, writing and developing code, conducting unit testing.
• Collaborating with project team and cross functional teams, troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs.
• Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information, engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues.
• Provides support to the business by responding to user's questions, concerns, and issues.
• Leads the discovery phase of medium to large projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business and user experience teams.
• Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution and improvement of action plans.
• Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
• Models compliance with company policies, procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
• Create software design and architecture for next software solution.
• Analyze competing requirements and articulate tradeoffs and lead discussions with business and development team.
• Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs.
• Creates training documentation. Oversees the tasks of less experienced programmers.
• Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives.

Requirements

• An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream - Computer Science preferred.
• 12+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.
• 3+ years of leadership/management experience with a team of 10+ engineers.
• A good understanding of Java and Microservices.
• Hands on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka, Memcached/Redis, relational DBMS (MySQL, Oracle etc.).
• Experience with Front-End technologies including React.js and GraphQL.
• Should be hands on writing/reviewing design & code.
• Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.
• CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of at least one cloud-based project.
• Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area.
• Experience in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
