About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering (Enterprise Search) at Slack is responsible for leading a team that develops solutions to integrate external data sources into the Slack platform. This role involves overseeing both backend and frontend engineering efforts to create a seamless user experience, while also focusing on team development and effective engineering processes.

Responsibilities

• Defining, evolving, and communicating the team's vision, mission, and strategy across Slack.
• Collaborating with Product and technical leaders to build a roadmap for the team and growing the team to complete that roadmap.
• Delivering team goals in a timely and efficient manner.
• Implementing effective engineering processes and policies.
• Setting and fulfilling the engineering hiring plan for the team, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing.
• Coordinating requests with third-party companies to ensure technical goals are met.

Requirements

• 2+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, high-functioning teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
• Ability to contemplate several, often conflicting, constraints and make rapid decisions.
• Technical experience to discuss architecture and product decisions with engineers.
• Proven history of shipping products with consistent execution.
• Highly organized and thrives in rapid-paced environments.
• Experience in performance conversations and understanding the relationship between objective feedback and career growth.
• Hands-on experience in API design and development, with knowledge of modern frontend engineering and developer platforms.
• Ability to explain sophisticated technical concepts to diverse audiences.
