About the position

As a Senior Manager in Software Engineering at Walmart's Data Ventures, you will lead a team of over 10 engineers focused on Core Services and Platform engineering. Your role is pivotal in delivering essential capabilities across Data Ventures products, driving data productization from concept to deployment, and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance service delivery globally.

Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, and guide high-performing talent for the Core Services engineering team.
  • Engage and guide the team technically, including involvement in design and architecture.
  • Define a long-term talent development and support strategy across technology roles.
  • Engage with leadership across various centers to set up strategy and priorities for platform maintenance.
  • Own and support delivery for all features related to global data engineering and platform.
  • Create a collaborative environment across geographies for delivering best services to customers globally.
  • Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and development opportunities for associates.

Requirements

  • An Engineering Degree - B.E/B.Tech/MS in any stream, preferably Computer Science.
  • 12 - 15 years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.
  • 3+ years of leadership/management experience with a team of 10+ engineers.
  • Good understanding of Java and Microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, SpringBoot, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS), Kafka, Memcached/Redis, and relational DBMS (MySQL, Oracle).
  • Experience in writing/reviewing design & code.
  • Understanding of product and project management with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of at least one cloud-based project.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in building extensible platforms and data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
