About the position
As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at Capital One, you will lead a team of developers in the Enterprise Platforms Technology division, focusing on building and enhancing technology solutions that meet regulatory needs. This role emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and mentorship within a fast-paced environment, driving transformation and improving developer productivity through the use of modern technologies and practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers.
- Develop utilities and patterns to increase developer productivity.
- Stay updated on tech trends and experiment with new technologies.
- Mentor other members of the engineering community.
- Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions.
- Utilize programming languages and tools to create solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (excluding internship experience).
- At least 1 year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
- At least 4 years of people management experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Master's Degree in a relevant field.
- 9+ years of experience in JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
- 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service.
- 3+ years of experience building plugins/extensions for IDEs such as IntelliJ and VSCode.
- 3+ years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality, and code health.
- 7+ years of people management experience.
