About the position

The Software Engineering Senior Manager at ModMed is responsible for leading and managing software development teams, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of development activities. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to define architecture and technology standards, auditing development work, and overseeing the implementation of software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, a passion for mentoring, and a commitment to fostering a high-performing engineering organization within a fast-paced healthcare IT environment.

Responsibilities

• Compliment the Director of Software Engineering in providing technical leadership and collaborating with architects and software engineers.
• Track and enhance the overall health of the engineering organization.
• Work with software engineers to develop and confirm architecture and design decisions.
• Manage scope and deliverables for the technical side of the product roadmap.
• Direct team members to focus on highest-priority projects and development tasks.
• Lead recruiting efforts for the engineering team.
• Identify and incorporate opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
• Collaborate across teams to solve problems and resolve technical debates.
• Assist the director in formulating new strategies for building a high-performing engineering organization.

Requirements

• 5-7+ years of experience managing engineering teams in a web-based application/service environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills, adaptable, proactive, and willing to take ownership.
• Strong commitment to quality, architecture, and maintainability.
• Ability to effectively direct and mentor others in engineering disciplines and best practices.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology (3+ years).
• Understanding of object-oriented design, SQL, and relational databases.
• Experience building scalable, globally accessible web applications and platforms.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with application lifecycle management tools for source control, continuous integration, and deployment.
• Strong project management and product lifecycle skills.
