About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering in the Well-being domain at Walmart Global Tech will lead a software engineering team focused on modernizing platforms that support the physical, emotional, and financial well-being of Walmart Associates globally. This role is pivotal in driving the technical vision and strategy, ensuring the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise, and impacting millions of associates' lives every day.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical vision and strategy for the engineering team.
  • Stay current with cutting-edge technologies and best practices in software engineering.
  • Comprehend the business context of the work and make informed decisions that align with the overall leadership vision and strategy.
  • Manage a team of highly skilled engineers and foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure high standards of quality.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, promoting continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area, or 7 years' experience in software engineering or related area with 2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading teams and people in a technical capacity.
  • Experience with agile frameworks and facilitating ceremonies.
  • Strong competencies in planning, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • CI/CD experience including automated testing experience with a mindset to build self-testing code.
  • Professional experience as a Software Engineer across front-end & back-end stacks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Experience managing Workday engineering teams is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and experience in creating inclusive digital experiences.
