About the position
The Software Engineering Manager at Snap Inc. will lead a team of full-stack developers in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role involves setting strategic direction, building roadmaps, and creating measurable goals to ensure successful project delivery. The manager will collaborate with various teams and stakeholders, evaluate technical decisions, and mentor team members to foster growth and high performance.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of full-stack developers.
- Set the strategy, build a roadmap, and create measurable goals for the team.
- Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science, and Engineering teams, as well as executive stakeholders.
- Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and provide strong technical mentorship.
- Hire, grow, and retain high-performing team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 11+ years of experience working in software engineering.
- 4+ years of experience managing a team.
- Experience with distributed systems and web development.
- Background in building high availability and mission-critical systems.
Nice-to-haves
- Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Experience with Ops-heavy systems/products.
- Experience with media cost/performance optimizations.
- Experience in video transcoding and codec technologies.
