About the position

The Enterprise People Technology team at Walmart is dedicated to the successful deployment and adoption of innovative People technology across the organization. As a Senior Manager in Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team that focuses on modernizing and transforming platforms that support the well-being of Walmart Associates globally. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision and strategy for your engineering team. You will facilitate team meetings, conduct code reviews, and promote knowledge sharing among team members. Your project management skills will be put to the test as you coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, while also monitoring project progress and managing risks. Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical vision and strategy for the engineering team.
  • Stay current with cutting-edge technologies and best practices in software engineering.
  • Comprehend the business context of the work and make informed decisions that align with leadership vision.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive business outcomes.
  • Manage a team of highly skilled engineers and foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Facilitate team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and ensure high standards of quality.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area, or 7 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 2 years' supervisory experience.
  • Experience leading teams and people in a technical capacity.
  • Experience with agile frameworks and facilitating ceremonies.
  • Strong competencies in planning, communication, and stakeholder management.
  • CI/CD experience including automated testing experience with a mindset to build self-testing code.
  • A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.
  • Professional experience as a Software Engineer, across front-end & back-end stacks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in ServiceNow or WorkDay is a plus.
  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences and knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards.
