About the position

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering at VIZIO will play a crucial role in the Technology - Software and Services team, focusing on UI engine development and optimization. This position emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and individual contributions, without direct reports. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive experience in software development for embedded devices to drive innovative TV product designs.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with cross-functional teams - product, hardware, software and cloud engineering in the design and development of new innovative TV products
• Empower engineers and dev leads by identifying success metrics and mentoring them to achieve goals
• Participate in architecture discussions and planning
• Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members
• Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Proactively foresee issues and resolve them before they occur
• Ensure teams have clear priorities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of application development on embedded devices
• Experience developing software development managers/technical leads
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux and system-on-a-chip (SoC) development
• Experience working with SoC vendors, ODMs and prototyping iteratively based on new technology
• Highly proficient in C, C++11/14
• Experience in HAL layer, notification system, IPC, multi-processing, multi-threading, debugging/core dump analysis
• Experience in Shell-Script, Makefile, git, bug tracking tools
• Ability to multi-task and drive parallel projects with tight deadlines
• Proven strong track record of shipping high-quality hardware and software at scale
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
