About the position

The Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering - Enterprise at Okta is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with business acumen to lead a team of Solutions Engineers focused on medium to large accounts across various industries in the Central U.S. This position reports to the Director of Solution Engineering for Enterprise Central/East and is responsible for guiding the Solutions Engineering team in delivering exceptional service to customers evaluating the Okta Identity Platform. The Solutions Engineering team is characterized by its unique blend of technical savviness and business insight, enabling them to empathize with customers and discern their true technical needs through detailed questioning and solution presentation. In this role, you will prioritize the success of your team by fostering their professional growth through defined development plans and experiences. You will own and report on the business impact of your team as they engage with prospects, which includes conducting demonstrations, technical deep dives, trials, and proofs of value (POVs). Your active involvement in deals will be crucial, as you will propose strategies to ensure the success of opportunities, frequently participating in on-site deal support. Collaboration is key, and you will promote a sense of “team within a team” by working closely with the greater presales teams and business units at Okta. Recruitment is an ongoing responsibility, as you will attract, recruit, ramp, and mentor a diverse team of Solutions Engineers. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated success in selling to Fortune 1000 companies, with the ability to influence technical decision-makers and executives. Familiarity with MEDDPICC and Value/Outcome based selling methodologies is essential, along with a vision for how Okta's solutions can drive business outcomes for customers. A minimum of 5 years of presales experience with supervisory responsibilities is required, along with a Bachelor of Science in engineering, science, or mathematics, or equivalent experience. Extra credit will be given for expertise in security product market trends and knowledge of the Okta platform and competitor offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Expertise in security product market trends and directional awareness of Okta's roadmap and technology development efforts.
  • Knowledge of the Okta platform and competitor product offerings.
  • Competency with security concepts and solutions; knowledge of customer enterprise security software (firewalls, proxies, VPN, CASB, databases and applications) preferred.
