About the position

The Senior Manager, Staff - Network Engineering is an engineering leadership role focused on innovating and building new engineering solutions while enhancing existing ones. This position is responsible for leading a team of solutions engineers in a large-scale, mission-critical environment, developing strategies to improve product delivery speed, and managing the technical roadmap for the Network Services team. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in large-scale network management and will be instrumental in solving operational challenges through effective engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of solutions engineers in a 24x7 large scale, mission critical environment.
  • Work with senior leadership to address project dependencies and negotiate delivery dates for milestones.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of team strategy, platforms, and services.
  • Identify and raise project risks, presenting detailed and implementable solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and track service performance metrics for effectiveness and quality.
  • Monitor team progress on projects and key metrics, presenting ideas for improvement.
  • Understand the impact of requirements and design choices across multiple systems.
  • Initiate and support performance evaluations of team members.
  • Cultivate a culture that motivates team members to achieve higher levels of performance.
  • Identify technical skill gaps and create remediation plans.
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members to foster trust.
  • Develop the team budget and report on results achieved.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of network infrastructure engineering and operations experience.
  • 6+ years of coding experience is desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.
  • 5+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms.
  • 5+ years of hands-on work experience supervising personnel in a technical environment.
  • 3+ years scripting/coding experience in languages such as Bash, Python, GO, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing including Unit, Integration, and End-to-End functional testing is desired.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of secure network designs and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with network performance, capacity, configuration, and fault management processes and tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.).
  • Understanding of CI/CD toolchain products like Jira, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, and IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
  • Experience with Python, JSON, XML, or RESTful services and open-source software.
