The Supply Chain Senior Manager plays a critical role in overseeing the Supply Chain and Materials Management staff, ensuring that appropriate par and inventory management activities are maintained across all storage locations. This is essential to support hospital operations, including inpatient, ambulatory, and perioperative services. The Senior Manager is responsible for the timely ordering, receipt, inspection, and delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for patient care. This position also coordinates and maintains a variety of non-clinical and ancillary services that support nursing services, thereby maintaining the efficiency and quality of unit operations. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Senior Manager provides oversight, mentoring, and management of key personnel, including the Chain Business Manager, Manager of Supply Chain, and Supply Chain Operations Manager for the Operating Room. Compliance is a significant aspect of this role, as the Senior Manager ensures that all policies, procedures, quality assurance measures, and customer service standards are adhered to. This includes participating in the development, implementation, and monitoring of departmental policies, procedures, technical guidelines, and quality assurance standards. Human resources management is another critical component of this position. The Senior Manager is responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels, conducting interviews, hiring, performance management (including discipline and termination), and completing staff performance appraisals. They also coordinate department orientation and training as needed. Collaboration with senior leadership is essential to maximize service levels while minimizing costs, all while consistently achieving the best quality and value outcomes. Financial responsibilities include managing departmental budgets, operating within allocated funds, and making recommendations for capital expenditures. Effective communication is vital, as the Senior Manager conducts ongoing monthly staff meetings to keep the team informed about pertinent job-related information. They act as a lead resource for nursing staff regarding par-levels, custom requisitions, call-downs, equipment, and supplies, while also informing leadership and stakeholders of any concerns or issues related to staffing, employee relations, inter-departmental matters, or inventory control. Customer service is a key focus, as the Senior Manager must understand the needs of various service lines and ensure that the supply chain team delivers services and products as designed. Building and maintaining positive relationships with hospital stakeholders and establishing key relationships with end users through regular meetings and reporting is essential. Additionally, the Senior Manager is responsible for managing strong partnerships with strategic vendors, ensuring that the supply chain operates smoothly and effectively.
