The Sr. Manager, Systems and Infrastructure Engineering - VDI Leader is a pivotal role within Walmart Global Tech, focusing on the development and execution of our virtual endpoint technology strategy. This position is designed for a seasoned leader who has extensive experience in managing a team of senior engineers to design, develop, and administer large-scale virtual desktop solutions. The ideal candidate will embody the principles of servant leadership, empowering their team by providing the necessary resources, guidance, and support to foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and accountability. This role requires a strong understanding of traditional on-premise infrastructure, including network, compute, storage, and security, as well as cloud-based solutions such as Azure and Google infrastructure as a service. In this role, you will partner closely with the Product Owner, Technical Expert, and Scrum Master to deliver work in two-week sprints, aiming to enhance associate productivity through our endpoint computing solutions. You will be responsible for driving the adoption of best practices in DevOps, Agile, and Scrum methodologies, optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability of virtual desktop and server infrastructure, while ensuring compliance with security standards. Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends will be crucial for informing strategic decision-making and maintaining a competitive edge in the market. As a leader, you will articulate the vision and strategy for your product family, using domain expertise and best practices to identify market opportunities and build business cases. You will also foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the engineering team, ensuring that team members are equipped with the skills needed to excel. Additionally, you will manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation, ensuring that your team is well-prepared to meet the challenges of the role.
