About the position

The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting Advisory & Policies plays a critical role in achieving our overall goal of delivering world-class financial reporting. This highly visible role frequently interacts with executive management as part of providing technical accounting advice. This position offers a great opportunity to work closely with various Finance teams within the Company, including Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Tax, as well as the Legal, Regulatory, Product Operations, Business Development, and Intuitive Ventures teams. The role involves partnering with various teams, including Business Development and Intuitive Ventures, to provide technical accounting guidance and strategic support for transaction structuring, including M&A activity and strategic investments. You will draft memos on the accounting for non-routine transactions and head meetings with Executive Leadership to explain the accounting for these transactions. Additionally, you will drive the due diligence efforts for significant M&A activity, manage third-party consultants, draft or update accounting policies, and implement required ESG reporting efforts. You will also run initial examination and implementation efforts for significant new accounting pronouncements, review significant contracts for accounting implications, and manage special projects related to technical accounting. This role also includes facilitating career development of team members and developing a long-term roadmap for the team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with various teams to provide technical accounting guidance and strategic support for transaction structuring, including M&A activity and strategic investments.
  • Draft memos on the accounting for non-routine transactions using excellent written communication skills.
  • Head meetings and discussions with Executive Leadership to explain the accounting for non-routine transactions using exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Drive due diligence efforts for significant M&A activity, managing third-party consultants as needed.
  • Draft new or update existing accounting policies as warranted.
  • Implement required ESG reporting efforts, including reporting under CSRD, California's and the SEC's climate disclosure rules, and other global ESG reporting requirements.
  • Run initial examination and implementation efforts for significant new accounting pronouncements, maintaining ongoing communication with other teams.
  • Review significant contracts for accounting implications.
  • Manage other special projects related to aspects of technical accounting.
  • Communicate results of consulting projects via written reports and oral presentations to management and process owners.
  • Facilitate career development of team members and develop and manage the long-term roadmap for the team.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and exceptional presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with executive communication and presentations.
  • Exceptional technical expertise related to U.S. GAAP, including lease accounting, acquisitions, and strategic investments.
  • Proven statistical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated recent experience in researching and preparing for implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Integrity, personal accountability, fosters team unity, commitment to excellence, capacity for growth, and proactive thinking.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Certified Public Accountant.
  • 10+ years public accounting and/or industry experience.
