About the position

The Senior Manager - Visual Merchandising at Shiseido is a pivotal role responsible for the design, development, and implementation of in-store visual programs and events tailored for Shiseido and its retail partners, including prestigious names like Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Macy's, and Sephora. This position demands a highly organized individual capable of delivering rapid design programs while optimizing costs and aligning with business priorities and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong proficiency in both 2D and 3D design, excellent communication skills, and a sophisticated aesthetic that resonates with luxury and prestige audiences. In this role, the Senior Manager will partner closely with the Director of Visual Merchandising to conceptualize designs, manage projects, and oversee the implementation and rollout of merchandising programs across various retail environments. The responsibilities include adapting seasonal global concepts into tailored 2D and 3D design proposals for specific US retail channels, such as department store visual weeks, retail outposts, pop-ups, and in-store events. The role also involves creating schematic design drawings, 3D renderings, and planograms for approvals from global headquarters, US cross-functional partners, and retailers. Additionally, the Senior Manager will be responsible for producing directives, instruction sheets, and guidelines for new launches and seasonal updates in the US region. Maintaining consistent communication and transparency with brands and cross-functional partners in a shared service environment is crucial. The role requires managing and collaborating with vendors to produce, price, and value engineer on-counter visual merchandising elements, as well as creating and releasing print-ready art files for various launches and events. The Senior Manager will also oversee visual merchandising maintenance starting from the opening of new stores and continuing thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director of Visual Merchandising to concept design, project management, implementation and roll-out of merchandising programs and initiatives across retail environments.
  • Adapt seasonal global concepts to create 2D & 3D design proposals for US specific retail channels including department store visual weeks, retail outposts, pop-ups, and in-store events.
  • Create schematic design drawings, 3D renderings, and planograms for global HQ, US cross-functional partners, and retailer approvals.
  • Create directives, instruction sheets, and guidelines for new launches and seasonal updates for the US region.
  • Maintain consistent communication and transparency with brands and cross-functional partners in a shared service environment.
  • Manage and collaborate with vendors to produce, price, and value engineer on-counter VM elements.
  • Create and release print-ready art files for new launches, seasonal updates, events, etc.
  • Liaise visual merchandising related maintenance starting from new stores' opening and ongoing.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of VM experience in the beauty or fashion industry with an emphasis on both 2D & 3D design; preparing planograms, and packaging artwork.
  • High proficiency in SketchUp, RHINO (optional), Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and well-versed in display materials and production processes.
  • Graphic knowledge and skills including typography and layout; packaging and proofing print-ready artwork.
  • A diversified portfolio demonstrating success with VM program development and implementation in specialty, department store, and open-sell environments.
  • Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity; creatively problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with agility and resourcefulness under tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective cross-functional partnerships.
