About the position

The Senior Manager, Risk Management - Curriculum & Knowledge Development is a crucial senior leadership position responsible for spearheading the strategic direction and execution of learning and knowledge management initiatives across Partner Ys. This role drives the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs, resources, and knowledge management systems focused on promoting child protection, aquatics safety, and risk management best practices. The Senior Manager provides visionary leadership, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and champions a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence. The position is integral to ensuring that the YMCA of the USA maintains its commitment to safety and risk management while providing high-quality training and resources to its Partner Ys. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique needs of these organizations and the ability to align training initiatives with their risk management strategies. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for cultivating strategic partnerships, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance, and driving innovation in training delivery methods. This position is designed for a leader who is passionate about child safety and risk management, with a strong ethical commitment to protecting youth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the overarching strategy for YESS-Risk Management's learning ecosystem, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and Partner Y needs.
  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for the design, development, and delivery of high-impact, cutting-edge training programs, resources, and evaluation tools.
  • Lead the strategic direction and management of a comprehensive online knowledge base, ensuring Partner Ys have efficient access to up-to-date information and resources.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with Partner Ys, deeply understanding their unique needs and ensuring training programs align with their risk management strategies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader, providing strategic guidance and expertise on risk management to executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement by identifying and implementing emerging technologies, updating training content, and enhancing learning experiences.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication and change management strategies to maximize awareness, adoption, and engagement with training programs and knowledge resources.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance by proactively monitoring evolving best practices and adapting training and resources accordingly.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development within YESS-Risk Management and across Partner Ys.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Learning & Knowledge Management team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and innovative environment.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align learning initiatives with YESS-Risk Management's overall strategic objectives and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Risk Management, or a related field; Master's degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and training delivery, with at least 7 years focused on risk management within non-profit service organizations.
  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing comprehensive, innovative learning programs, including online, in-person, and blended formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, with a proven track record of driving organizational change and operational excellence.
  • Expertise in data analysis and the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships with executive leadership and external partners.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and relevant technology platforms.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams.
