About the position

The Senior Managing Director, Strategy, Talent & Operations (SMD, STO) is a senior leadership role responsible for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Texas Executive Team at Teach For America. This position focuses on driving engagement, collaboration, and development within Team Texas, while leading special projects aimed at achieving educational equity in Texas. The SMD, STO will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure the organization meets its strategic goals and supports the growth of its corps and fellows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Strategy, Talent, and Operations for all Statewide Initiatives in Texas.
  • Manage the process, resources, and communications necessary to develop clear annual plans and corresponding budgets for Team Texas.
  • Drive collaboration among the Texas Executive team to pursue annual priorities, including facilitating meetings and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Provide regular updates to the Texas Executive Team on progress toward top-line goals.
  • Collaborate with various teams to monitor progress toward 2030 goals and in-year targets.
  • Act as the primary contact for finance, risk, operations, and people team initiatives for the Texas Executive Team.
  • Manage a team that supports Team Texas' work.
  • Develop and maintain the vision and strategy for Team Texas culture and collaboration.
  • Support managers in implementing talent management practices, including recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Plan and execute Team Texas meetings, celebrations, and communications, including DEI learning experiences.
  • Lead cross-functional team workstreams based on Team Texas needs, including partnerships and programmatic launches.
  • Participate in corps members and alumni activities, including selection and ongoing data collection.

Requirements

  • Passion for educational equity and knowledge of the communities served.
  • Expertise in managing multiple projects and collaborating across teams.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate with minimal oversight.
  • Detail-oriented with strong operational and communication skills.
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in public education or Teach For America.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
