About the position

As a Senior Manager in Digital Product Management at American Express, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Digital Banking platform. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing third-party relationships within the Digital Banking platform team. As the Third-Party Relationship Manager (TRM), you will ensure that our third-party suppliers operate within the AXP Third Party Lifecycle Management (TLM) framework. You will serve as the primary relationship lead between American Express and our contracted third-party servicing partners, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and maintaining the integrity of our corporate reputation. Your responsibilities will include understanding business objectives and customer needs, identifying creative ways to leverage capabilities, and developing innovative solutions. You will work closely with technology teams to ensure best-in-class delivery and customer outcomes, while also monitoring and improving processes related to third-party servicing. You will conduct contract testing, oversee the implementation of new products and services, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance. Your strong analytical skills and project management abilities will be essential as you manage multiple business priorities and drive departmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Understand business objectives and customer needs, identify creative ways to leverage capabilities, and develop innovative solutions to meet those needs.
  • Work closely with Technology as a key partner interfacing back with business teams to oversee and ensure best-in-class delivery and customer outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Company and contracted third-party servicing partners.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the product operations team.
  • Monitor and improve processes related to third-party servicing to minimize risks and ensure corporate reputation remains intact.
  • Conduct contract testing to ensure compliance with AEMP 10 requirements.
  • Oversee and evaluate the implementation of new products and services offered by the Company at each third-party vendor to ensure quality and appropriate risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders and partners to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Operation Excellence, Business, and Product Management teams to identify gaps, create new processes, and streamline processes.
  • Drive departmental standards and audit/review remediation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of vendor and contract management experience.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively influence, collaborate, and work across multiple business groups and functions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to drive and manage multiple projects/priorities to completion; meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and displays thought leadership by being able to transform ideas into actionable plans.
  • Ability to execute under pressure.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office related products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word).
  • Proven effective people leader skills.
  • Experience working in or with various governance and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense organizations to support, challenge, and promote objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Third-party monitoring, SLA tracking/Progress reporting and Process controls.
  • Knowledge of risk management functions and familiarity with standard processes and tools relevant to third-party relationship management.
  • Knowledge of Operational Risk Events/Corrective Action Plans and management of Third-party tracking.
