This role supports various NVIDIA product lines, including GPUs, consumer electronics, automotive, and AI-related products. The engineer will provide comprehensive manufacturing assembly process solutions, lead investigations into product failures, and drive corrective actions to enhance workflow efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, including DFX (design for manufacturing, design for assembly, design for 6-sigma, design for testing).
  • Identify, assess, and apply risk mitigation strategies; initiate and lead investigations of issues and root cause product failures.
  • Review contract manufacturer readiness and develop assembly fixtures and jigs; establish clear assembly and manufacturing specifications through validation processes.
  • Capture feedback through DFx, yield issues, and repair center activities to improve workflow efficiency and analyze system assembly gaps.
  • Assess automation cycle time and propose waste reduction and cost optimization strategies; recommend technology aids and product design changes.
  • Coordinate the purchase of special equipment, materials, and parts to ensure they meet intended use and quality standards.
  • Lead suppliers to optimize manufacturing process parameters, ensuring optimal yield and efficiency to meet NVIDIA's capacity and cost targets.
  • Evaluate CEM technology competitiveness and recommend optimal assembly strategies to support NVIDIA's innovation needs.
  • Handle multiple projects and resolve conflicts in a timely manner; lead continuous efficiency and performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, thermal engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience); a master's degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of proven mechanical/thermal architecture experience, expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and critical to manufacturing risk.
  • Good understanding of commonly used manufacturing equipment and familiarity with electrical or electro-mechanical components, as well as PCBA related manufacturing processes.
  • In-depth mechanical/thermal background with a proven track record in engineering design, manufacturing, or product quality engineering in consumer electronics, GPU, automotive, or server products.
  • Technical and quality critical, effective problem-solver with strong teamwork and analytical abilities; proficient in SPC, 6 sigma, quality control, CpK, PPAP.
  • Knowledgeable in DFM, DFA, DFx, and manufacturing cost breakdown; able to accurately predict production performance.
