About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Development Engineer at NVIDIA is responsible for ensuring manufacturing assembly readiness across various product lines, including GPUs, consumer electronics, and AI-related products. This role involves overseeing the entire manufacturing process from new product introduction (NPI) to mass production and sustaining operations, while also addressing issues related to product failures and driving corrective actions. The engineer will work closely with contract manufacturers and suppliers to optimize manufacturing processes and improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, including DFX (design for manufacturing, design for assembly, design for 6-sigma, design for testing).
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, leading investigations into product failures and driving corrective actions.
  • Review contract manufacturer readiness and develop assembly fixtures and jigs, establishing clear manufacturing specifications.
  • Capture feedback through DFx, yield issues, and repair center activities to improve workflow efficiency and analyze assembly gaps.
  • Assess automation cycle time, propose waste reduction strategies, and recommend technology aids and product design changes.
  • Coordinate the purchase of special equipment and materials to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Lead suppliers to optimize manufacturing process parameters, ensuring optimal yield and efficiency to meet NVIDIA's targets.
  • Evaluate CEM technology competitiveness and recommend optimal assembly strategies to support innovation needs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical, thermal engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in mechanical/thermal architecture, expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and critical to manufacturing risk.
  • Good understanding of commonly used manufacturing equipment and familiarity with electrical or electro-mechanical components.
  • In-depth mechanical/thermal background with a proven track record in engineering design and product quality engineering in consumer electronics, GPUs, automotive, or server products.
  • Technical problem-solving skills, with proficiency in SPC, 6 sigma, quality control, CpK, and PPAP.
  • Knowledgeable in DFM, DFA, DFx, and manufacturing cost breakdowns, with the ability to predict production performance accurately.
  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably Creo, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Balanced design and manufacturing experience with a focus on quality delivery.
  • Background in consumer data center mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to thrive in a multifaceted environment and willingness to engage in hands-on work.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive salaries
  • Generous benefits packages
  • Equity eligibility
