The Sr Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes on the plant floor, as well as in developing and maintaining processes for both new and existing products. This position is integral to the operations of a privately owned manufacturer that serves clients in the aerospace industry, supplying some of the most recognizable aerospace brands. The company has demonstrated strong growth over the past 20 years and currently has a headcount of 100, with plans for continued expansion. The Sr Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager and will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at improving efficiency and quality in manufacturing operations. Key responsibilities include developing detailed processes with associated time standards for production, as well as summary processes for quotation purposes. The engineer will actively secure outside quotations for raw materials and services related to new projects. Additionally, they will develop manufacturing procedures, methods, and standards, overseeing their implementation to ensure optimal production flow. The role requires consulting with and advising shop supervision on issues related to methods, tooling, and handling to eliminate production difficulties. The Sr Manufacturing Engineer will also provide technical support for the design and manufacture of jigs, fixtures, and special tools, including their procurement and/or manufacture. They will be responsible for developing testing requirements and procedures to ensure compliance with customer and design specifications. The engineer will manage new product introductions, including routed processes, BOMs, in-process drawings, gaging, and the design, procurement, and manufacture of special tooling. Under the guidance of the Engineering Manager, they will develop cost justifications to support the procurement of both capital and expense items, and support the implementation of new equipment and processes. Proactive problem-solving is essential, as the engineer will work to avoid issues and prepare for upcoming jobs in advance of their scheduled start dates. When necessary, they will troubleshoot problems that arise and resolve them in a timely manner, collaborating with manufacturing, quality, and engineering personnel to address quality problems. The engineer will perform value analysis on existing designs and make recommendations to reduce overall product costs by providing guidance to engineering on the manufacturability of designs generated. They will support Cellular Manufacturing and take a leadership role in setup reduction, participate in the MRB process by dispositioning rejects (NCRs), and create necessary rework instructions. Finally, the engineer will implement Engineering Change Orders in a timely manner following established procedures and serve as the primary interface with customers and suppliers regarding manufacturing issues.
