About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Kadant Black Clawson is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining manufacturing processes. This role involves collaboration with product engineers and manufacturing teams to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness while ensuring high-quality output. The position emphasizes the application of lean manufacturing principles and supports the company's mission of sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, monitor, and maintain manufacturing processes.
  • Consult with product engineers and manufacturing to optimize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist manufacturing in developing and implementing jigs, fixtures, and tooling to reduce lead times and costs.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and increase efficiency.
  • Support capacity and quality improvements in the Injection Molding area.
  • Review technical problems and departmental procedures, recommending solutions or changes to ISO procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, for seamless product development and manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work with Quality on inspection applications and review ISO standards for compliance.
  • Support Operations with in-sourcing and re-shoring of products from NA suppliers and other Kadant divisions.
  • Oversee and mentor the Manufacturing Engineering Technician role, including hiring decisions, performance appraisals, training, and enforcing company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Technical Engineering, Machining, and Fabricating, with the ability to read drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient with CAD, including Solidworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
