About the position

As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Wesco, you will play a pivotal role in driving process improvement initiatives and troubleshooting issues within wire processing services. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting thorough data collection and analysis to enhance operational efficiency across various locations. This position is open to candidates in several key markets, including Alsip, IL; Atlanta, GA; Cranbury, NJ; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ; and Reno, NV. In this role, you will take ownership of wire processing controls, which include critical processes such as respooling, striping, twisting, cabling (speed pull), and other value-added services. You will be responsible for developing the necessary procedures, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment that are essential for production and testing. Additionally, you will support calibration efforts on required equipment across the network locations, ensuring that all operations meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your expertise will be crucial in implementing and managing change control processes, which will help ensure that all locations execute value-added services consistently. You will also be tasked with the development of manufacturing processes and the creation of supporting work instructions. As the technical point of contact for wire processing services, you will provide troubleshooting support for current equipment in production, ensuring that any issues are resolved promptly and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ownership of wire processing controls for respooling, striping, twisting, cabling (speed pull), and other value-added services.
  • Develop required procedures, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment for use in production and testing.
  • Support calibration efforts on required equipment across network locations.
  • Implement and manage change control processes to ensure locations execute value added services consistently.
  • Development of manufacturing processes and supporting work instructions.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for issues within wire processing services.
  • Provide troubleshooting support of current equipment in production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years related engineering experience in manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with wire manufacturing processes including post processing services such as dyeing, striping, twisting, ink jet printing, pulling eyes/wire crimping, cablers (Speed Pull).
  • Familiarity with wire harness manufacturing, including IPC 620A and other associated UL Standards.
  • Familiarity with wire metrology techniques including laser micrometers, vision systems, wire crimping and tension testing.
  • Familiarity with industry standard wire processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic controls engineering for machines (PLCs, SCADA, MES, OEE).
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher.
