About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer position at SES-Government Solutions involves working within the Electro Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) line of business, which is dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and supporting advanced infrared and electro-optical solutions for military applications. This role is critical in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of production operations, requiring a blend of technical expertise and practical experience in engineering processes. The engineer will engage in moderately complex functions related to process design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of production operations. This includes preparing detailed plans, conducting support studies, and providing thorough analyses or tests to enhance production workflows. In this position, the engineer may also be responsible for assigning tasks to drafters and technicians, offering guidance to junior engineers, and troubleshooting hardware issues for failure analysis. The role requires participation in various boards such as the Change Control Board, Material Review Board, and Failure Review Board, where the engineer will act as a key stakeholder. The responsibilities are diverse, necessitating sound judgment in analyzing situations or data. The engineer will develop manufacturing processes, process plans, assembly instructions, and capacity plans, while also reviewing designs for manufacturability and producibility using industry-standard tools. Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately complex functions in the process design, fabrication, modification, and/or evaluation of production operations.
  • Prepare complicated plans, conduct support studies, and provide analysis or tests in the development of production operations.
  • Assign work to drafters and/or technicians and provide guidance to lower-level engineers.
  • Troubleshoot hardware for failure analysis, generate associated reports, and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in Change Control Board, Material Review Board, and Failure Review Board activities as a key stakeholder.
  • Develop manufacturing processes, process plans, assembly instructions, assembly routes, test requirements, manufacturing flows, and capacity plans.
  • Review detail designs for manufacturability and producibility utilizing common tools (e.g., MOST, PFMEA's, etc.).
  • Design and support fabrication of assembly aids and tooling.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable engineering field with 5+ years of applicable engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience).
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or Creo.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and drawing standards.
  • Basic understanding of Circuit Card Assembly fabrication is a plus.
  • Specialties may include manufacturing, production, industrial, tooling, testing, process, and robotics.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a diverse team environment.
  • Experience with Mil Spec hardware, electronics, and/or electro-optical equipment assembly and testing is desired.
  • Lean/Six Sigma training is strongly desired.
