About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing high-quality manufacturing processes for a diverse range of products, overseeing all phases from pilot production planning to final assembly. This role involves transitioning products from both internal engineering teams and external customers to manufacturing, while providing ongoing support for these products during routine production.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently process ECO/ECNs in high volume low mix and low volume high mix product environments.
  • Develop new and improved engineering processes, including ECO/ECNs, work instruction development, BOM creation, and assembly floor interface solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend new software tools to enhance productivity and accuracy of ECN/ECO activities.
  • Propose efficient cellular manufacturing layouts based on facility requirements.
  • Design and configure ERP/MRP systems, focusing on engineering change processes for new and existing customers.
  • Manipulate data in Excel to support ERP systems upgrades.
  • Study product requirements to develop manufacturing processes, including researching, designing, modifying, and testing methods and equipment.
  • Apply LEAN, 5S, and Six Sigma methods to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design testing methods to assure product and process quality, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Calculate production, labor, and material costs to provide decision-making information to management.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain manufacturing records including Bills of Material, assembly and test procedures, and work instructions.
  • Implement continuous product improvements to enhance reliability and manufacturability as per customer needs.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep production and test equipment operational.
  • Support floor personnel in assembly by troubleshooting documentation and design issues.
  • Engage with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to develop and deploy assembly fixtures and tooling during pilot launches.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Provide technical assistance to Program/Project Managers.
  • Perform costing and estimates for product changes or new products.
  • Direct activities and provide guidance to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in an ISO regulated capital equipment product or contract manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with CAD (SolidWorks preferred), MS Office, MS Project, and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Solid technical aptitude and understanding of electro/mechanical assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of Business Process Software; MRP/PDM; Epicor E9/10 and SW EPDM software experience is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of GT&D, inspection methods, and tools.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI).
