The Lead Smart Factory Projects role focuses on transforming manufacturing facilities into Industry 4.0 environments. This position involves overseeing global capital acquisition, developing scopes of work, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. The role emphasizes the application of lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices to drive operational excellence across multiple manufacturing sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Smart Factory Projects to transform facilities into Industry 4.0.
  • Oversee global capital acquisition including scope of work development and financial justification.
  • Qualify vendors and implement equipment for manufacturing processes.
  • Drive best manufacturing practices through lean methodologies and continuous improvement projects.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency, cost, and throughput using lean methodologies.
  • Provide lean and continuous improvement training to cross-functional groups.
  • Lead process improvement teams on a global scale.
  • Coordinate product development projects across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Design and improve production processes to enhance quality and reduce costs.
  • Implement large-scale capital projects to drive capacity growth and productivity improvements.
  • Support process design, tool design, and machine programming.
  • Conduct Process Performance and Quality Control Analyses.
  • Utilize Six Sigma methodologies for Value Stream Mapping, Design of Experiments, and other analyses.
  • Reduce customer lead times by eliminating non-value-added activities.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading smart factory or Industry 4.0 projects.
  • Strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage global capital acquisition projects.
  • Experience in vendor qualification and equipment implementation.
  • Technical training experience for cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of process design, tool design, and machine programming.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma methodologies and statistical analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with robotics and material handling automation.
  • Knowledge of vision system automation.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools like Minitab.
  • Experience in conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) and capacity modeling.
