About the position

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems is responsible for leading manufacturing engineering efforts to support the production of naval electronics. This role focuses on developing and streamlining production operations, ensuring quality requirements are met, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will also mentor junior engineers and collaborate with various departments to optimize manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and streamline production operations in manufacturing execution system.
  • Identify and support required tooling to achieve production goals.
  • Pull and analyze production data to solve problems and aid in evidence-based decision making.
  • Optimize floor layout based on business forecasts.
  • Partner with engineering department to achieve design for manufacturing ability targets.
  • Mentor junior engineers to learn on-the-job skills.
  • Lead lean or Kaizen events and implement at the site-level on an ongoing basis.
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field.
  • 5+ years applicable engineering experience or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, industrial, tooling, testing, processing, software, robotics, and automation.
  • Lean implementation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Green or black belt in Six Sigma preferred.
  • Familiarity with MES (Solumina), PLM (Empower and Arena), and 3-D Modeling (Creo) preferred.
  • Must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards.
