About the position

In this vital role as a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer - Packaging Plant Architect at Amgen, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our manufacturing digital technology ecosystem at the Ohio site. Your primary responsibility will be to craft and own the roadmap for this ecosystem, collaborating closely with global architects and site project teams to enhance and evolve Amgen's most digitally advanced manufacturing plant. You will play a key role in advancing and maturing Amgen's Pharma 4.0 technologies, ensuring that our operations remain at the forefront of innovation in the biotechnology sector. As the Architect for key advanced packaging and warehouse automation tools globally, you will help transfer the advancements achieved at our Ohio site to the wider Amgen network. This position requires you to partner with business collaborators to identify, develop, and implement new technical solutions that address challenges and enhance key performance indicators such as quality, equipment reliability, and overall yield. You will be responsible for capturing and synthesizing requirements from various clients, customers, or end-users to develop optimal digital solutions tailored to their specific needs. Additionally, you will monitor relevant industry trends and emerging technologies in the areas of Assembly & Packaging, Warehouse Automation, and Industry 4.0, integrating these advancements into the company's strategic planning. Maintaining the AOH integrated Architecture diagram will be crucial to ensure a clear understanding of overall integration across systems and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and own the roadmap of the Manufacturing Digital Technology ecosystem at the Ohio site.
  • Advance and mature Amgen's Pharma 4.0 technologies at the Ohio site.
  • Serve as the Architect for key advanced packaging and warehouse automation tools globally.
  • Partner with business collaborators to identify, develop, and implement new technical solutions.
  • Capture and synthesize requirements from various clients, customers, or end-users to develop optimal digital solutions.
  • Monitor relevant industry trends and emerging technologies in Assembly & Packaging, Warehouse Automation, and Industry 4.0.
  • Maintain the AOH integrated Architecture diagram to ensure a clear understanding of overall integration.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree or Masters degree with 2 years of engineering experience or Bachelors degree with 4 years of engineering experience or Associates degree with 8 years of engineering experience or High school diploma / GED with 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with Assembly & Packaging Automation, Warehouse Automation or Building Automation.
  • Experience with Data Historians, automation systems, system integration using standard industrial protocols like OPC/UA and Ethernet/IP.
  • Experience with Industrial Data Analytics concepts and tools such as OEE and Predictive Maintenance.
  • Experience with Level 3 manufacturing systems such as MES and Commercial Serialization.
  • Hands-on experience with computerized systems including troubleshooting, reliability and performance improvements.
  • Coding experience in at least one programming language and database knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing systems architecture and integration designs including network topologies.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies.
  • Experience working in a GxP environment.
