As the primary technical leader for GE Aerospace's Marine Engines & Systems division, the Senior Marine Applications Engineer plays a pivotal role in shaping the technical landscape of naval and marine gas turbine systems. This position serves as the face of GE Aerospace, providing essential technical solutions and expertise to ship builders, marine customers, and naval architects. The engineer will be responsible for integrating gas turbine systems, managing interface controls, and ensuring optimal installation designs that meet product performance and lifecycle cost expectations. Additionally, the role involves evaluating marine fuel options and overseeing equipment testing and certification processes. In this capacity, the Senior Marine Applications Engineer will provide technical expertise and develop tailored solutions during the capture process, collaborating closely with the commercial team. This includes managing the technical analysis of client needs, defining and optimizing product specifications, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations and naval propulsion operations. The engineer will also be tasked with calculating plant, system, and equipment performance and efficiency, while documenting technical specifications and costing elements for subsequent contract execution phases. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will partner with Marine systems engineers to coordinate unique technical solutions that cater to specific customer vessel and propulsion plant requirements. This may involve addressing unique interface needs, non-standard performance requests, and compliance with military and commercial specifications. The engineer will lead the development and evaluation of propulsion plant trade studies and provide comprehensive technical responses for all customer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in conjunction with the Sales team. As a technical expert representing the Marine Engines & Systems division, the Senior Marine Applications Engineer will provide thought leadership within the marketplace, influencing internal and external policies while ensuring successful delivery within their area of responsibility. The engineer will leverage their understanding of industry trends and internal and external business challenges to recommend best practices that enhance products, processes, or services.
