About the position

The Senior Market and Competitive Industry Analyst at Hyundai KIA America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is responsible for conducting comprehensive market analysis within the automotive industry across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. This role involves leading internal reports, preparing technical presentations for senior management, and coordinating benchmarking activities. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to identify competitive sets and trends, support product planning, and manage data analysis projects while embracing new initiatives and adapting to team needs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute market analysis for the automotive industry in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.
  • Lead key internal reports including Sales, Auto Shows, Trends, OEM Summaries, and Segment Overviews.
  • Prepare and present technical reports to Senior Management.
  • Monitor current economic and automotive industry indicators.
  • Lead and coordinate internal benchmarking activities and reports.
  • Collaborate with Product Planning teams to identify competitive sets and impacts on vehicles and industry trends.
  • Support cross-line planners on studies focused on features, technology, and execution strategies.
  • Consult with Sales Affiliates on appropriate responses to market data.
  • Analyze data sets and provide insights, recommendations, and reporting.
  • Create advanced PowerPoint presentations to convey industry stories.
  • Investigate media and customer responses related to vehicles and technologies.
  • Attend auto shows and industry conferences to integrate learnings.
  • Manage long-term projects and quick-hit ad hoc requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Data Science, Social Science, or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in Industry Analysis, Benchmarking, Innovation, Market Research, or Product Planning, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Experience with vehicle evaluation, component testing, competitive intelligence, and customer research.
  • Expertise in data analysis, particularly with tools like IQS, NVCS, AutoKnowledge, AutoSource, AutoPacific, and mTab.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and comfortable with Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in report development and cross-functional team coordination.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automotive data sources such as AutoPacific, IHS, Bloomberg, IQS, CR, KBB, and Edmunds.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and switch focus to assist with team initiatives.
