About the position

CDM Smith is seeking a creative writing professional to join our Industrial Unit marketing team. This role is pivotal for those who thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy leading the development of compelling written storylines for proposals and presentations. Candidates should possess a portfolio that showcases innovative written content that adheres to client RFPs while resonating with the target audience. As a member of the CDM Smith team, you will contribute to our mission by planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing strategies for marketing and business development efforts across key service areas, including clean energy, environment, facilities, and water. Your responsibilities will include developing, writing, editing, and proofreading complex content for proposals, presentations, resumes, project descriptions, and related marketing materials tailored for our industrial/private-sector clients. You will apply creativity and strategic insight while leading brainstorming and storyboarding sessions, utilizing a theme-based approach for proposal and presentation development. Additionally, you will be responsible for updating information in the firmwide database of resumes, project descriptions, proposals, and qualification packages, as well as coordinating general client marketing efforts, including conferences, social media posts, webinars, and other activities. Being actively involved in the CDM Smith marketing discipline group by participating in task forces and committees will also be part of your role. You will have opportunities to develop your business development, marketing, facilitation, and writing skills through internal and external training sources and association memberships. This position offers hybrid work options, allowing you to work from one of our many offices across the United States or remotely, depending on your location and preference.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement strategies for marketing and business development efforts across key service areas.
  • Develop, write, edit, and proofread content for proposals, presentations, resumes, project descriptions, and related marketing materials.
  • Apply creativity and strategic insight while leading brainstorming, storyboarding, and other strategy development sessions.

  • Update information in the CDM Smith firmwide database of resumes, project descriptions, proposals, and qualification packages.
  • Coordinate general client marketing efforts, including conferences, social media posts, webinars, and other activities.
  • Participate in the CDM Smith marketing discipline group by engaging in task forces and committees.
  • Develop business development, marketing, facilitation, and writing skills through training and association involvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 6 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required, contingent on specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent command of grammar and spelling.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, and SharePoint applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business development models.
  • Ability to organize, negotiate, and drive proposal schedules.
  • Ability to facilitate formal meetings.
