About the position

The Senior Marketing and Proposal Specialist at CDM Smith plays a crucial role in developing and managing marketing materials and proposals for transportation clients. This position involves writing, editing, and proofreading complex content, as well as coordinating marketing strategies and business development efforts nationwide. The specialist will also engage in creative brainstorming sessions and maintain the firm's database of marketing materials, ensuring all information is current and accessible.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, edit, and proofread content for proposals, presentations, resumes, and project descriptions for transportation clients.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement marketing and business development strategies nationwide.
  • Lead brainstorming and strategy development sessions using a theme-based approach.
  • Update and maintain the CDM Smith firmwide database of resumes, project descriptions, proposals, and qualification packages.
  • Ensure marketing and visual presentation information is up to date.
  • Participate in the CDM Smith marketing discipline group and contribute to task forces and committees.
  • Develop business development, marketing, facilitation, and writing skills through training and associations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 6 years of related experience in marketing or proposal development.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, and SharePoint applications; advanced skills in Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to coordinate projects and communicate effectively with remote team members.
  • Experience in editing/proofreading technical narratives.
  • Practical experience in facilitating strategy and proposal development sessions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and assignments.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.A. or B.S. in Communications, English, Business, Journalism or related degree.
  • Prior experience in an architectural or engineering firm, specifically in the transportation industry.
  • Experience with business development/marketing process models such as Dag Knudsen, Miller-Heiman, Shipley.
  • Excellent command of grammar, the AP Style Manual, and spelling.
