About the position

The Senior Marketing Specialist on the Growth Data Science team at Root plays a crucial role in expanding and diversifying the company's direct marketing portfolio. This position focuses on developing and managing relationships with advertising and data partners, with the goal of increasing business growth through new partnerships and improvements with existing partners. The role involves strategic planning, execution of marketing strategies, and collaboration with various internal teams to enhance marketing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, plan, and execute strategies to profitably increase Root's new business growth with existing marketing partners.
  • Align with new partners on engagement terms and contracts in close collaboration with Root's Procurement team.
  • Identify common bottlenecks and develop proactive solutions to streamline Root's partner contracting and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Analytics to create and manage dashboards, providing stakeholders with insights on affiliate marketing performance and handling ad hoc questions.
  • Launch and manage advertising campaigns across various digital platforms.
  • Implement predictive models developed by the team's data scientists.
  • Develop requirements for software engineering projects and clearly communicate them to engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a business development or vendor-facing program manager or account manager role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven success in coordinating cross-functional projects across multiple internal teams and/or external partners.
  • Ownership mentality: takes the initiative to identify, champion, and execute on the highest impact work.
  • Familiarity with setting up and maintaining advertising campaigns on popular digital marketing platforms (e.g. Google Ads, Meta, The Trade Desk, MediaAlpha).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Procurement and potential partners to align on partnership terms and contractual language.
  • Proficiency in database management, SQL, business intelligence, and data visualization.
  • Insurance or tech industry experience.
